Is Fisher Worth It?
Fisher is the most optional gatherer. Unlike MIN/BTN which feed multiple crafters, FSH only really feeds Culinarian.
Reasons TO Level Fisher
- Ocean Fishing is genuinely fun content
- Big Fish achievements for collectors
- Aquarium fish for housing
- Completionist satisfaction
- Some CUL recipes require fish
Reasons to Skip Fisher
- Most fish are cheap on marketboard
- Doesn't share gear with MIN/BTN
- CUL can use vendor/gathered alternatives
- No Wachumeqimeqi deliveries in Dawntrail

Ocean Fishing = fastest leveling. 3-5 levels per 15-min voyage!
Getting Started
- Complete "My First Fishing Rod" (Limsa Lominsa, Fishermen's Guild)
- Complete "All the Fish in the Sea" (unlocks Ocean Fishing)
- Talk to Dryskthota (Limsa X:3, Y:12.7)
Ocean Fishing (Best Method)
Ocean Fishing voyages depart every 2 hours (Earth time). Check the schedule:

Ocean Fishing Tips
- No special gear needed — works at any level
- Use Versatile Lure — catches everything
- Spectral currents — when ocean glows, fish frantically!
- Double Hook on !! catches (level 65+)

How Spearfishing Works
- Use Gig (off-hand) instead of rod
- Swim underwater, find fish nodes
- Mini-game to spear fish
- Some fish are spearfishing-only!

Rare fish with specific conditions (weather, time, mooch chains). For collectors!
- Check ff14angler.com for conditions
- Many require specific weather + Eorzea Time
- Some need mooch chains (fish → fish → target)
- Rewards: Titles, achievements, bragging rights
