Is Fisher Worth It?

Fisher is the most optional gatherer. Unlike MIN/BTN which feed multiple crafters, FSH only really feeds Culinarian. However, it offers unique content like Ocean Fishing and Big Fish hunting.

Reasons TO Level Fisher

• Ocean Fishing — genuinely fun group content with unique rewards
• Big Fish achievements — for collectors and title hunters
• Aquarium fish — housing decoration (some very valuable)
• Completionist satisfaction — fill your fishing log
• Some CUL recipes — certain endgame foods require specific fish
• Relaxing gameplay — great for chilling while watching streams

Reasons to Skip Fisher

• Most fish are cheap on marketboard
• Doesn't share gear with MIN/BTN (extra expense)
• CUL can use vendor/gathered alternatives for most recipes
• No Wachumeqimeqi deliveries in Dawntrail
• Limited gil-making potential compared to other gatherers

Prerequisites

• No combat level required — Fisher can be your first class
• Ocean Fishing unlock — Complete "All the Fish in the Sea" at Fishermen's Guild
• Bait money — ~5,000 gil to start, vendors sell basic bait
• Spearfishing unlock — Level 61, "A New Fishing Ex-spear-ience" in Kugane

Ocean Fishing Overview

Ocean Fishing is the core of FSH leveling. Voyages depart every 2 hours (even hours Earth time).

• Duration: ~24 minutes per voyage
• No gear requirements — works at any level with any rod
• Use Versatile Lure — catches everything, unlimited uses
• Spectral currents — when ocean glows, fish frantically for bonus points
• Schedule: Check ffxiv.pfindr.net for routes and times

Fisher: Levels 1-30

Ocean Fishing = fastest leveling. 5-8 levels per voyage at low levels!

Getting Started

1. Visit Fishermen's Guild in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:7.9, Y:14.2)
2. Complete "My First Fishing Rod" to unlock Fisher
3. Complete "All the Fish in the Sea" to unlock Ocean Fishing
4. Talk to Dryskthota (Limsa X:3, Y:12.7) to board the Endeavor

Ocean Fishing (Recommended Method)

This is by far the fastest way to level Fisher. One voyage can gain you 5-8 levels at low levels.

• Buy Versatile Lure from Syneyhil at Ocean Fishing pier — unlimited uses
• Just keep casting — quantity matters more than quality
• Watch for spectral currents — ocean glows blue, fish appear faster
• Don't worry about HQ — focus on catching anything
• Voyages run every 2 hours — even hours (0:00, 2:00, 4:00, etc.)

Unlike MIN/BTN, Fisher does NOT have Wachumeqimeqi deliveries in Dawntrail. Your options are:
